Anzac Day, and other life updates

Yesterday (April 25th) was ANZAC day here on this side of the world. Now if you're not sure what that means here's a little history lesson: ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, and April 25th is the day we honor our soldiers who fought in WW1 at Gallipoli (Turkey). While I didn't attend any dawn services this year, I've decided I will go next year - and i'll take my camera, to document it. I would absolutely love to make the pilgramige to Gallipoli as thousands of people do each year (the amazing thing - its not just the older generations who experienced the wars first hand but a lot of younger people are going to pay their respects). I met a lady last year who was going - her father had fought there, and she was looking to buy some camping mats to sit on at the sight.

This year was overshadowed by an unfortunate event here in new zealand - a group of army helicopters were on their way to a demostration flight event when one of them crashed killing 3 of the 4 army personal aboard. R.I.P boys.

In other news I'm counting down the days until my friend D arrives in Christchurch! she's currently travelling around new zealand and from the sounds of it having a fabulous time. I'm a bit jealous to be honest, A lot of places she's going to i've never even been to and i've lived here for most of my adult life! That makes me a wee bit sad. Hubby and I were having a chat today about how he hasn't really done much of the touristy things on offer here - its been work work work :( hopefully D's trip will help sort that.

Now I think i'm going to go curl up in bed and read for awhile. Its a bit chilly here tonight, I might even have a hot lemon drink for old times sake :) enjoy your evening all!

Life goes forward

So things have been plodding along pretty nicely lately. Not a whole heck of a lot to update about here to be honest!

We've got a kitten - her name is Charli, she's absolutely gorgeous! She's black and white, and in a couple of weeks going to be fixed then hopefully we can start letting her outside.

I had a haircut (its above my shoulders!) one of my boss ladies did it for me last week, and i'm loving it. When my hair gets cut shorter it has a tendancy to hold curls a lot better than my longer hair so YAY. Its given me a bit more confidence.

I'm pretty excited, in a few weeks a good friend of ours from the states is coming over to see us! She's spending a few days in town with us, so i'm hoping we can keep her entertained and not too bored.

Other than that i've set up my photography website http://frozenkiwi.webs.com/ if you'd like to check it out.
