We went to Florida!

Tuesday 25th September:
We've been back on the truck since thursday, and our first load out was a fun one! We headed off to wally world to pick up a trailer, then got our load the next morning.. heading to.... Florida!! Sunday we arrived here, parked up for the afternoon and delivered in the very early hours of monday. Then came the fun part - we had to sit all of yesterday and part of today waiting for our reload. It would seem that they were having a little trouble getting a load for us out of Florida hehe. They finally found one this morning and we're on our way to get it now.

The time we spent in Florida was pretty good, I was a little sad I didn't see any gators but at the same time a tad relieved. It was really hot (by my standards, pat kept hassling me that it wasn't hot, it was fall temps) and humid, but thankfully the ac in the truck was working.

Wednesday 26th September:
Well we're at our destination in Arkansas (Conway, Arkansas to be exact) and we got our next load assignment.... to Indiana! hehe compared with how we've been running lately, the delivery isn't until a little later - 6am hehe.

Oh mum, I remembered to email Sheldon (finally!). I'll hopefully hear back from him soon.

Sorry this is so short, The past week or so hasn't been overly exciting, the same stuff day in and day out really.

I'll write again soon.

A cute wee house in Eutaw, Alabama - that town is really cute with a lot of historic houses and building

Beef for dinner! (yes it was a cattle truck, and yes it did have cows on it he he he)

Art with hay is fun! ( somewhere between Demopolis and Eutaw, Alabama)

another update

Sunday 16th September:
What a week its been! its been so busy, its been hard to find time to sleep (don't worry pat is getting plenty of sleep, i've had to stay up to do things like laundry or keep an eye on our load being put on to let him know when they've finished). I think in a 2 day period i'd had a total of 7 hours sleep. Why had we been doing this? because we'd been stuck on driving at night time schedules and delivering early in the morning or really late at night. Thankfully though we stopped about 1pm the other day so we could get to bed about 6pm, i slept right through until 5am the next morning hehe. I felt a million times better afterwards though so its all good.

We've currently got a load on, it came from Alabama and is going to Wisconsin (which is the state we're in at the moment). To be delivered in the morning, we're only about 30 minutes down the road so thats no problem. That day we parked up early, something really annoying happened to our trailer - it got hit while we were inside having something to eat. Its a curtain side which is why its been a bit of an issue, the curtain partially ripped and with a load on (and the wet weather we've been having), we had to rig it up with wire and duct tape to keep the load from getting wet. Chances are the company is going to want us to go to the terminal here in wisconsin to fix it - you can't haul anything with it the way it is, heck we're going to have to undo what we've done so the people can unload whats on there.

Pat is going to ask his fleet manager if we can take our home time a few days early since we'll be at the yard, and they wont have to deadhead us twice (deadhead is what they call it when you travel places without a load - they're not making money which is why they don't like to do it too often). Not to mention our truck needs a couple of things looked at like the cigarette lighter in the back that we need functioning for our cooler and other electronics.

I found my necklace yesterday YAY, and all because my bookmark slipped down beside the bed. Its been missing for a few weeks now (the necklace), and i was a little worried i wouldn't find it seeing as how i looked in 99% of the nooks and crannies this place has. Turns out that under the side table there's a little dip down that it rolled under. Buts its all good now, and i've got it in a safe place so i wont lose it again.

I've got some photos from the past couple of weeks off the camera, its just a matter of uploading them to the blog. I'll do that tonight if we get the okay to go back to the house.

Hope everyone is well, safe and happy, love you guys!

Its the Weekend

Saturday 8th September:
We left the terminal thursday morning, picked up that day and ran our butts over here to North Carolina to deliver yesterday. Last night we relaxed, pat played some wow and I read. We got a frozen coke slushie last night, I haven't had one in such a long time so that was fun. This morning we're heading to Virginia to collect our next load which will be delivered in Illinois monday morning.

Sunday 9th September:
We're currently somewhere in Kentucky, making our way towards Illinois. This morning was fun, I was watching the deer, there were 3 little ones, not much bigger than a puppy, standing right beside the highway while semi's sped on by them. they didn't freak out or run away, it was amazing. I'm really looking forward to stopping tonight so I can have a shower and catch an early night. Virginia and west virginia are really beautiful, especially first thing in the morning while the sun is coming up over the mountains, and there's a hazy mist covering everything.

More of those photos I promised you....

This was taken early Saturday morning during the meteor shower, because my camera wasn't quite able to capture the beginning of the sunrise (the light area you can see was a brilliant blue and orange). Through the wonderful technology that is computer software I was able to get this out of it - and a big surprise when I saw that it captured a meteor!

This was an amusing sight, going down the 65mph interstate!

One of the ways they transport new or dead trucks around the states! I've seen as many as 5 trucks attached to a front truck, pulling them down the interstate.

Wisconsin farm has a pumpkin structure on their silo!?!

Because you've seen cows on a milk tanker trailer before right?

photos... round 3

This is part one of the photo post for this time......

Morning mist over a river in either South Carolina or Tennessee (I don't remember exactly which it was)

Tennessee has a pyramid!

Here's a few pics of a line of trucks going through the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.

Unexpected Home Time

Friday 31st August:
We're currently on the way back to wisconsin and to the house for some early home time. Yesterday morning we got a phone call from patrick's sister, telling us that their mother had passed away during the night - we believe it was a heartattack as she had told pat that the doctors had refused to operate on her heart due to other health issues. Despite that comment from her, everyone is in shock. Pat is trying to get saturday thru tuesday off, which his fleet manager is currently working on.
