hehe..well here's an update

Wednesday 20th February:
Its hard to believe February is almost over! this year is flying by way too quickly. Anyways here's a quick update of whats been going on...

We had a really lovely time at the house. Sunday we took a friend out shopping before we went to the yard to take our load to be delivered. Had a pretty good time despite an extremely rude sales person at a computer store. But its all good because we wont be shopping their anymore.

Once at the yard we had a few troubles, mostly snow related. It had been snowing all day before we got there and the plows had only just started plowing the yard. We ended up getting stuck the first time in an area that had been plowed already! 10 minutes later and the tractor giving us a nudge we got free and had to deal with getting our trailer out of the wash bay. It was an odd situation, turns out we were hauling soda so it couldn't be left outside in the extreme cold or the cans would explode (and that, while slightly amusing would be really really bad). Unfortunately they didn't think to plow behind the buildings where the wash bays are...and you guessed it folks we got stuck again. Thankfully though we got out of there, and to our destination on time YAY.

The next day (Monday) we picked up our current load. It's heading to Arizona where i'm hoping its at least warmer than Wisconsin has been. We're due there tomorrow which we'll be able to make. Originally it wasn't due until the 22nd but we've been having a good run so they've changed our delivery so we can pick up a day earlier than anticipated.

At this stage our next home time should be about March 5th so if anyone wants to call, that would be a good time to do it.

Thursday 21st February:
So today, yeah it was one of those days that makes me wish I hadn't gotten out of bed hehe. Had a few things go slightly off plan but its now the end of the day, and we're sitting here relaxing watching Stargate Atlantis (season 2) on DVD.

I think the craziest part of the day was when we stalled in the driveway of a customer. Doesn't sound like a big deal right? wrong. When you're in an automatic truck, and reversing and your engine stalls while you were trying to slide the wheels to the back of the trailer - with a pin covered in ice from a snow storm we went through...its not good. So they ended up having to call out a road repair guy to putt air in the tanks so it would shift to neutral so we could start. Oh well, the company has to pay for it - not us. Its a damn good thing there were two lanes to get into the customer so we weren't entirely blocking up their driveway.

Turns out that our reload was out of the same place but its not ready until the morning. Its destination? Portland Oregon AND Kent Washington. We should be pretty alright on time to get there so thats a relief. Pat said we're going to end up going through the Mojave Desert which i'm kinda excited about.

Saturday 22nd February:
So yesterday we arrived at our destination really early in the day at our destination, only to find out that our power supply for the laptop had gone to the big computer store in the sky. Yup it was dead really dead. So while we had high speed internet we had limited battery supply and no stores that sold new power supply things. So we did a lot of reading, and I had a mid afternoon nap due to a headache i'd developed. All in all not a bad day.

Oh fyi the Mojave desert was really awesome to see - and it was raining! not something I really expected to see. I got a couple of photos during the break in the rain so i'll upload those tonight if I get the chance.

As you can guess by the fact that i'm blogging and using the computer, we got a new power supply. We were cruising down Highway 99 here in California when we saw a mall off to the side of the road with a big empty parking lot, and the store we knew would sell the power supply box (not as easy to get as you'd imagine). Anyways by the time we saw it we were past the exit so we had to turn around and go back to it. Thankfully they had them in stock so we got it YAY.

well i'm going to post this up so you can will know what we've been up to.
take care guys! xoxox

Snow drift across the highway in the mountains.

Mountainous area in Wyoming or Nevada, i'm not entirely sure which.

Donner Pass on the way to California, This was taken at the summit... the whole place was surrounded in mist despite the sunny day it was. The highest point is about 7300ft above sea level!

Arrived in Cali and other updates leading to it.

Thursday 15th November:
We're back in the truck today, and we're heading to California! (again). This time its to a town near Sacramento which isn't too bad. I'm hoping its a bit warmer over there than it is here at the moment. There has been a few snow flurries but nothing overly consistent.

At this very moment we're sitting at the customer's waiting to be loaded. Its a small company so it could take awhile. Thats okay though I'm getting feeling back in my fingers so I'll probably make the bed and finish organising everything into its place for the trip ahead.

We had a really nice home time, though I'm a little sad that its over. As I mentioned before, the next time we'll be at home will be for our birthdays (we'll arrive on the 6th, our birthday's are on the 8th in case anyone wants to call us).

Saturday 17th November:
Not much to report about yesterday really, was a full on day driving and we made it to our destination safe and sound. Even managed to have a good dinner (grilled chicken burger with cheese..and fries of course). Went to bed about 8pm because I was really tired.

We found out yesterday what our reload is! its going from california back to wisconsin, in fact its going to a town about 5 minutes down the road from the house! how groovy is that.

Saw a shooting star this morning that was really cool, didn't get a chance to get a photo of it though, oh well.

The sun is coming up while I'm typing this, its so beautiful.

We're hopefully having dinner with Mat tonight, he doesn't live too far from where we're parking for the night so hopefully he isn't busy. It was his birthday yesterday so he might not be feeling well enough to leave the house.

Sunday 18th November:
Had dinner with Mat last night, was fun. Nice to catch up with him again though he looked a little under the weather after his birthday party celebrations the night (or should I say that morning). Got to spend about an hour with him over dinner chatting about things.

We made it California safe and sound, we're delivering in the morning and heading off to get our next load (or at least part of it) picked up.

I did get some beautiful shots today and i'll upload them tomorrow since its getting late here. According to our time its 9:45pm, but local time its only 7:45pm so you can imagine how much fun it is trying to work off of two time zones. We had a later dinner by our schedule but to everyone else around us it was a late lunch/early dinner.

Sorry this is yet another short entry i'm feeling pretty tired right now and just want to get some sleep.

updatey goodness

hi guys, well guess what! we're on the road. well not at this exact moment because we're sitting at a place being loaded yay! and our first destination? Sunny california! its been pretty easy going so far this trip. Once i got my seat adjusted and used to the bouncing over bumps, things were going great.

We left the yard about midday, and we've been at the yard being loaded for about 2 hours now so we should be on the way soon. We're hoping to make it out of wisconsin tonight before he runs out of hours, fingers crossed.

So far nothing too scary has happened, except for some idiot infront of us hitting his breaks suddenly in a construction area, luckily the trailor we were hauling was empty so we didn't have all that weight behind us pushing us forward. People have been pretty good around the truck which i'm thankful for. From some of the stories hubby was telling me people's minds just tend to take a break from concentrating when there's a big semi driving near them.

We'll i'd better finish up writing for now, the laptop batteries need to be charged, so i'll write again soon.
Luv Corina

well the rest of the first night went really well with only one exception, but i'll get to that in a minute. We saw sunset over the oshkosh river which was so gorgeous. Thw only damper of the night was when some idiot in a white van got so impatiant that he nearly became paint on 3 trucks in one go! gah thakfully hubby hit the breaks in time. We ended up parking about 11pm last night and sleep just inside the wisconsin/illionois state line. Not a bad night's sleep at all even with lots of trucks running their motors nearby.

Saturday:
Woke about 7am and coudn't get back to sleep, nevermind though because i grabbed a book and curled up in my seat, in the sun and read til 9am when hubby got up and we got ready to head out. We went through illonois pretty quick and then into Iowa. Guess what you see a lot of in Iowa? corn! hehe I grabbed a couple of photos (i'll upload tomorrow) for ya. Oh the other thing about Iowa, we stopped at the worlds biggest truck stop. You wouldn't believe how big it was! I had 5 resturants, a dentist, a doctors, a lawyers office, hairdressers, shops to get everything from dvd's to truck parts, collectables and clothes. It was awesome.
We're currently parked up in Nebraska, we'll probably head out about 7am tomorrow (hehe). Tomorrow we deal with mountains :| wish us luck!

Sunday (i think its too early to really be sure):
Well its 7am and we're on the road. We picked up this really awesome little thing for the stereo that allows us to play music from the laptop WOOHOOO that means when we hit the mountains (argh) and when we go through the nevada desert military zone we'll have tunes. Though i'm kinda interested to listen to the indian reservation's station, but we'll see how things are when we get there. We havent been having much lcuk with a net connection but as soon as I get one i'll be posting this up for you to read.
Its going on 11am, we're almost thouh nebraska and into wyoming! there's so much that i'm seeing, that I can't capture on camera and do it justice. LIke this old farmstead that looks like the family rebuilt elsewhere, the house, barn and other buildings on the propty were in such disarry, that i'm not sure what was holding them up, but they were stll standing. Other cool thngs we have seen were things like the pony expess building, as i type we're passing fields of oil pumps! how cool is that.
Oh I wanted to mention that the other day at the biggest truck stop we saw this gorgeous truck, the side curtain was painted with a moon, stars and clous, it must've taken ages. the cab itself matched it in the dark blue. If we see it agin i'll try to get a photo for you guys.
Wel is 6pm central now, still haven't seen that prettytruck again in case you were wondering. Its soooo hot! I have my shoes and socks , and 'the floor is actually really really hot. Its a damn good thing we're stopping soon. Tonight we're hopefully meeting up with a friend of ours, Mat (yes thats how he spells it). Pat has been gaming with him for about 7 years, I only really got to know him over the past year.

Sunday:
Last night was fun, we met up withmat for dinner and it went well. It was nice to finally meet him, and I think Pat was pretty happy about the whole thing as well.
Right now we're driving through Nevada (casino heaven). Its been a longggg day, and thankfully we'll be reaching our stop for the night shortly. Its so darn hot, and while we're lucky to have any AC at all, its not working as well as it should be. I just want to get out and go into a restuarant with good air conditioning.

Tuesday:
We made it to our destination! wooohooo. our next load also picks up here in california so woohoo for us. It's not too far away so we'll be on our way to our stop for the night.
Made it here safely, spent a few hours inside in the ac'd tv lounge for drivers. wootage. Wasn't overly impressed at the food for dinner but oh well, it was food. i'm going to crash now - i'm still tired.

Wednesday: (independence day)
happy 4th july everyone! today has been awesome. We spent a few hours in the tv room this morning while it was heating up, had lunch then came back to the truck for a wee bit. I played a little wow and its all good.
Our next load is to be delivered in wisconsin! so we might make it home for the midnight release of the harry potter movie YAY
As for photos from my trip so far, i'll probably load them when I get back to wisconsin depending on down time between now and then. its a little hard to get everything hooked up with my card reader while we're bouncing along down the road hehe

well thats it for this long post, take care until next time
luv, hugs and peace out
